Nursery Infants through children who are still two years old this fall will spend their Sunday mornings in a large space, filled with appropriate toys and activities. We try to create a warm accepting atmosphere where trust can be formed, so that children and comfortable and happy in their first association with our church. Nursery will be open at 9:45. Parents should expect to stay with their children for five to ten minutes to allow the children to become adjuste and the parents to become acquainted with our child care staff. Parents are asked to pick up their children promptly when the service ends. Pre-K – 4th Grade What is “Tapestry of Faith”? Tapestry of Faith is a series of programs and resources for all ages that nurture Unitarian Universalist identity, spiritual growth, a transforming faith, and vital communities of justice and love. The UUA has developed these curriculum out of a broad series of conversations that articulated a future direction for Unitarian Universalist religious growth and learning and denomination-wide focus groups which helped shape a program that would offer a variety of resources—downloadable, printed, viewable, interactive, and more—a religious growth and learning program for the twenty-first century. 5th and 6th Grade, Neighboring Faith Probably one of the most diverse classes on the list this year. It has been found that this class is not only rewarding for the children but also the parents. Each month they visit a faith community in our city or a local town to see how they worship. Before each trip they spend a Sunday or two understanding the religion. They will spend a Sunday visiting the church and the following Sunday they talk about the visit. They get to interview the church leaders, take notes and draw pictures in a journal they keep. 7th and 8th Coming of Age As youth prepare to leave childhood we honor this transition with a class filled with workshops for our youth that includes small group ministry sessions for parents, social action projects and rites of passage. Participants will explore theology, spirituality and history through discussion, drama, music, writing and art. This class helps both congregations and youth to define their beliefs and put their faith into action. YRUU (Young Religious Unitarian Universalists) Youth group is the one place a teen can come and totally be themselves without judgment or criticism. Our youth advisors help to create a very safe space to talk about the issues that teens face in the crazy world of ours. Through out the year they will have overnights and youth conferences to attend. As well as the youth coffee house and camp out. Many of our youth go off to college and maintain the connections they made with friends in youth group. |
