UUCM's new minister is Rev. Dr. F. Jay Deacon.

 

Jay has served congregations in Hartford, Chicago, Orlando, and North Easton and Northampton, Massachusetts, and in Aberdeen, Scotland and London. In the 1990s he led the consolidation of two congregations in Oak Park, Illinois to form Unity Temple Unitarian Universalist Congregation, which he served for nine years.

He has served the Unitarian Universalist Association's Boston headquarters as acting Information Director and then as Director of the Office of Lesbian and Gay Concerns.

He conducts retreat-workshops onThe Transcendentalist Movement and an Evolutionary Spirituality, exploring the implications of the visionaries surrounding Emerson for our time, updated by the Integral Spirituality of Ken Wilber and especially the Evolutionary Enlightenment movement led by Andrew Cohen.

Jay serves the congregation half-time, returning to his home in Westhampton, Massachusetts, one of the "hilltowns" in the foothills of the Berkshires.

Another current project is publishing a book, called Magnificent Journey: Religion as Lock on the Past or Engine of Evolution.
